FOOTBALL MIDNORTH COAST COMPETITION

Gloucester Scorpions Under 11s

The first game of the year…the anticipation…we started in the rain but the kids were keen…with a number of shots stopped by the opposition goalkeeper…we open the scorpions account with one of our newest members Olsen Landers scoring his first travelling team goal…this opened the gates and Roy Fisher added another before half time..but it wasn’t just the goals…the passing and positional play was outstanding..

The second half brought more of the same with the opposition goalie kept busy…a further 4 goals were added, Will Andrews throwing in a pirouette before a great shot found the net..Brock Grusinga even added to the account from the back.

The coach was very proud of the play all over the field working together for the benefit of each other.

Excellent teamwork, passing and effort. Well done team.

Gloucester Scorpions U13s vs. Taree Wildcats

The Gloucester Scorpions U13s made the trip to Taree to face off against the Wildcats in what turned out to be a thrilling and memorable encounter.

Both teams brought high energy and enthusiasm to the field, and just ten minutes into the game, the skies opened up with heavy rain. Rather than dampening spirits, the downpour only added to the excitement, with players from both sides embracing the challenge and turning up the intensity.

Despite the wet conditions, the Scorpions held their focus and delivered a strong team performance. Every player played their part in the hard-fought victory, working together with determination and heart. Gloucester emerged victorious with an impressive final score of 7-2.

Goals were shared around in a true team effort, with scorers including Dane, Malakii, Finley, Rylan, and Ryan.

A big congratulations to all the players for their effort and teamwork, and thanks to the Wildcats for a great game!

Scorpions Bounce Back with 3-1 Win Over Wallamba FC

After a 2-0 loss to the Great Lakes Vikings in their season opener, the Gloucester Senior Men’s Scorpions were looking to bounce back on Saturday—and they did just that with a confident 3-1 victory over Wallamba FC.

The two sides had met in a pre-season friendly that ended in a 2-2 draw, with Wallamba dominating much of the play and creating more chances. But this time around, it was a different story.

The Scorpions came out strong, opening the scoring early thanks to a well-placed assist from Drew Grierson and Hue Frame, which Kayden Schumann calmly finished. Gloucester kept the pressure on throughout the first half, with centre backs Isaac McClure and Hayden Reid anchoring the defense and breaking down Wallamba’s attacking efforts.

Midway through the first half, Gloucester doubled their lead with a composed team build-up. Central midfielder Drew Grierson weaved through several defenders before setting up player-coach Joel Sheely, who slotted the ball into the net.

Wallamba made key changes at halftime, and their renewed energy showed early in the second half. Gloucester found themselves under pressure, with goalkeeper Josh Anniwell called into action to handle a series of dangerous shots—most flying wide or over the bar. Wallamba’s persistence paid off when Isaac McClure was forced into a challenge inside the box, resulting in a penalty.
Despite diving the right way, Anniwell couldn’t quite keep it out, and the visitors pulled one back.

But the Scorpions responded well, making their own adjustments and regaining control of the game. Newcomer Hue Frame sealed the win with a composed finish, making it 3-1 by the final whistle.

The Gloucester Senior Men’s team look ahead to the rest of the season with confidence as they continue to prove their place in the Men’s Southern League. We hope to see you on the sidelines this year—Up the Scorps!
