TUESDAY 15 July the Gloucester Veteran Golfers played the fifth round of the Winter Sheild, an Individual Stableford, an event won by Debbie Sate at a canter five points ahead of the field.
The day was sunny and a tad on the cool side with course still a little heave after the wetter than average early winter months.
The event was a Gary Peters sponsored Individual Stableford and the clear winner with a score of 38 points was Debbie Sate. Five points back the ball winners were headed by Anne Wand 33 and she was followed by Gai Falla, Dale Rabbett, Carolyn Davies 32 and Peter McIntyre all scoring a modest 30 points.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin at the 4th and 13th holes was won by Peter McIntyre; at the 6th and 15th holes it was Sally Higgins and Arthur Poynting taking home the appropriate trophy.
The event also marked the 1st round of the annual Radford Webb Match Play; the eight golfers moving onto the quarter finals Tuesday 22 July are Rod Burrows, Derek Wand, Peter Sate, Derek Barwell, Anne Wand, Debbie Sate and Gai Falla.
On Tuesday of this week, 22 July, the Veteran Golfers play an Individual Stableford sponsored by Anne & Ian Maggs. Next week, Tuesday 29 July, there will be another Individual Stableford. They also represent the two round that will determine the finalist of the Radford Webb Match Play competition.
