THIRTEEN regional clubs have collectively raised more than $70,000 to support farmers impacted by the devastating floods of May last year.
Member for Port Macquarie Robert Dwyer said the fundraising effort brought together clubs from across the region with the support of Clubs NSW.
“[It] highlighted the strong community spirit and commitment to supporting those affected by natural disasters,” he said.
Contributing clubs include Club North Haven, Club Old Bar, Club West (Taree West Bowling Club), Kempsey RSL, Kempsey Bowlo, Crescent Head Country Club, Laurieton United Services Club, Westport Club, Panthers Port Macquarie, Gloucester Memorial Club (Club Gloucester), Club Harrington, Port City Bowling Club and Wingham Ex Services Club.
The total amount raised to date stands at $70,445.80, subject to final confirmation from the Mid Coast Dairy Advancement Group.
“The contribution will provide much needed assistance to farmers as they continue to recover.
“This incredible result reflects the generosity of our local communities and the dedication of our clubs.
“We are proud to stand behind our farmers and support their recovery during such a challenging time.”
The funds will be administered by the Mid Coast Dairy Advancement Group.
