MIDCOAST Council has again been recognised for its work promoting the Barrington Coast, earning a place as a finalist in the 2026 North Coast Regional Tourism Awards.
The council’s destination brand, Barrington Coast, was named a finalist in recognition of the innovative practices of its visitor information centres, which showcase the region while delivering an exceptional experience for visitors.
The North Coast Regional Tourism Awards are conducted by the NSW Tourism Association in partnership with Destination North Coast.
The awards feature 19 categories celebrating tourism business success while recognising growth, innovation and entrepreneurship across the region.
MidCoast Council is one of nine finalists from the Barrington Coast region.
Other local finalists include Amaroo Escape, Barefoot Boats, Discovery Parks Forster, Manning River Ferry Services, Mograni Creek Estate, Pacific Ocean Brewery, The Ridge Gloucester and What’s Beyond The Mile.
The awards celebrate the innovation, resilience and dedication of the North Coast tourism industry, recognising operators who contribute to exceptional visitor experiences and the continued growth of the regional visitor economy.
MidCoast Council executive manager sustainable development Rachel Pleasant said council was proud to again be recognised at the regional awards.
“This is an outstanding achievement that again demonstrates Destination Barrington Coast is on the right path,” she said.
“Tourism plays a vital role in our local economy and this recognition demonstrates the strength of our visitor offering and the dedication of those working across the industry.”
The recognition highlights the collaborative efforts of council, tourism operators and local businesses in promoting the Barrington Coast as a destination for visitors from across Australia and overseas.
Regional tourism awards provide a pathway to the NSW Tourism Awards, showcasing destinations and businesses that continue to strengthen the visitor economy through innovation, customer service and quality experiences.
Winners will be announced at the North Coast Regional Tourism Awards Gala in Coffs Harbour on Thursday 30 July.
