IT WAS Scott Atkinson’s day at the Gloucester Golf Course on Saturday 18 July with an outstanding round some five points inside his handicap, the leading score across the field.
The event, played in cool conditions and on a course a tad on the heavy side, was an Individual Stableford sponsored by Gloucester Valley Landscaping.
The top score in A grade was a 36, turned in by Club Captain Nathan McInnes. In B grade the best score was a modest 33 by Matt Peters, but it was in C garde where the big scores were registered. The winner in that grade was Scott Atkinson with 41 Stableford points. That score saw him lead the ball winners followed by John Nicolson 40, Nathan McInnes 36, and by Matt Peters, Paul Griffiths and Bill Murray, all scoring 33 points.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophies at the 4th and 13th holes were won by Paul Blanch in A grade, Geoff Reynolds in B grade and John Nicolson in C grade. At the shorter 6th and 15th holes the three grades were represented by Steve Williams, Geoff Reynolds and Scott Atkinson.
The long drive trophies at the 8th and 17th holes were won by Nathan McInnes, Matt Peters, and Stroud visitor, Geoff Freeman.
The winner of the Super Sevens for the week ending Friday 17 July was Peter Markley with 17 Stableford points. Peter was three points ahead of a modest sized field with balls won by Derek Wand and Will Bosma 14, Simon Fox 13, and Max Shepherd on a count back with 12 points.
On Saturday 25 July there is a Four Ball Better Ball Aggregate evet sponsored by the Yates Family, The following Saturday there will the August Monthly Medal an Individual Stroke event sponsored by Arkwood Organic Recycling.
