Sate Shines in Women’s Golf

LAST Wednesday, 15 July, the Gloucester Golf Ladies headed out for another Individual Stroke round for the month’s Women’s Golf NSW Medal and it was Debbie Sate’s all-round performance that so well marked the day.

The weather couldn’t decide what it wanted to do. Showers were followed by patches of sunshine producing rainbows along the horizon, with southerly winds testing the putter’s concentration on the exposed greens.

The players opted for a number of strategies to deal with the elements, including puffer jackets for the cold wind, and umbrellas for the rain, sun and the seasonally-confused magpie already swooping players on the first hole.

It was clearly Debbie Sate’s day!  She sponsored the day itself, won Division 1 with a handicap-bettering net score of 70, was Nearest-to-the-Pin on the 4th and 13th holes and won the prize for the putting competition with a total of 26 putts across her 18 holes.

The rest of the field had to be content with the remaining prizes. Moya Harris won Division 2 with a score of 78, with balls going to Carolyn Davies, 75, Anne Wand, 77, and Evelyn Blanch and Dale Rabbett 78.

Evelyn also took out the Nearest-to-the-Pin prize for Division 1 on the 6th and 15th holes, while Lesly Harrison returned from her holiday to snaffle the prize for Division 2 on the same hole.

This Wednesday, 22 July, the Gloucester Golf Ladies play a Par event sponsored by Johanna Ware and next Wednesday 29 July there will be an Individual Stableford.
