Falla, Burrows in Women’s Golf Wins

THE Gloucester Golf Ladies arrived at a fog-cloaked course last Wednesday, 22 July, joking about being ready about hitting the ball out of sight. Once the fog lifted it was time to enjoy Gloucester’s winter sunshine and the challenge of playing a different type of game with gai Fall and Pat Burrows being the best in their respective divisions.

The day’s competition was a Par event each player registering plus, square of minus based on their hole-by-hole results.

Gai Falla was the only player to play to her handicap, finishing ‘square’ for her 18-holes to win Division 1. It took a countback to decide Division 2, with Pat Burrows just edging out Lesly Harrison, both with scores of minus one. Gai and Pat won a big colourful bag of goodies from the sponsor of the day, Johanna Ware.

The ball rundown went to Lesly Harrison and Rhonda Nightingale, minus one, and to Elaine Murray and Evelyn Blanch, minus two.

Elaine Murray also took out the Nearest-to-the-Pin prize on the 4th and 13th holes, while Pat Burrows hit her ball onto the green on 6th and 15th holes for Division 2.

This Wednesday, 29 July, the Gloucester Golf Ladies are playing an Individual Stableford. Next week, 5 August, there will be a Two Person Ambrose.
