THIS week saw the commencement of the weekly Crockpot Lunch competition, with Vince Costigan, one of the club’s newest members, scoring an average of nine hoops to take out the Avon Valley Inn-sponsored prize.
The club thanked Simon for his generous support.
At the recent Annual General Meeting, President Ashleigh Hickman gave an informed report on the previous busy year, thanking the outgoing committee and members for their generous support over that time.
Ashleigh then welcomed Grahame Stelzer, who took the chair for the election of the new committee for the 2026-27 year.
Ashleigh Hickman was returned as President, with Denise Bruce as Vice President and Elaine Leach as Treasurer, all retaining their positions.
The Secretary position remains undecided.
Due to ill health, Judy has decided to take a well-deserved break.
Bev Murray is Games Captain, with Chris Sims, Dianne Shanley and Pam Howard as committee members.
The Catering Committee comprises Carol Newitt, Dianne Shanley and Robyn Franks.
Ashleigh also extended special thanks to Al Minis and Chris Sims for their hard work maintaining the courts and surrounding grounds, Bev Fagan for tending the gardens, and Brenda for coaching U3A members.
Anyone interested in learning how to play croquet can do so through U3A or visit the courts at 1.30pm on Wednesdays, when members Pam and Di will be available to assist with teaching the sport.
New players are welcome to come along and give croquet a try.
