THE Gloucester High School auditorium was recently transformed into a bygone era while entertainment troupe ‘Let Us Dance’ performed in support of Gloucester Lions Club.
The performers, who hail from the Wollongong area, came to town with their Master of Ceremonies for an afternoon of music and dance from days gone by.
Music was predominantly drawn from the Fred Astaire era of tap, musical theatre and jazz.
The afternoon had been organised by Lorraine Lawler, as her sister was a member of the troupe, and Ross Cullen. The group members perform for their own enjoyment, and happily share their talents at nursing homes, service clubs and other events.
Proceeds from the Gloucester performance went to the Lions Club of Gloucester and its Children’s Mobility Scheme.
Lion Alec Bruce addressed attendees on the work of the scheme.
Intermission allowed for an afternoon tea break followed by a lucky draw from a large table of prizes.
At the conclusion, Mr Bruce presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the ‘Let Us Dance’ group for a delightful afternoon of old-fashioned entertainment.
