GLOUCESTER CWA Branch and Evening Branch combined their efforts to raise funds for the upkeep of the CWA Hall in Church Street by holding a garden party last Saturday (5 September).
The CWA Hall is a great facility that supports the extensive work of CWA, as well as being a welcoming venue available to other community groups.
But, like all buildings, maintenance needs to be ongoing.
A play group, Bucketts Way Neighbourhood Group, a martial arts class, a Friday exercise class and organisations holding meetings are among the groups that avail themselves of the facility, which has a well-equipped kitchen.
The hall is also available for hire for functions.
Around 50 attendees enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at the garden party, held in the garden of John and Anne Williamson’s beautiful home, Charden Park in Barrington.
The day was hot and breezy, but visitors relaxed and enjoyed the shade and conversation in the lovely surroundings.
Books and plants were available for sale and there was a fun competition to find the best spring hats. Sandra Wilson.won the raffle.
A delicious and elegant afternoon tea was provided by the CWA ladies of both branches.
The event also marked the start of CWA NSW Awareness Week.
This year’s theme is “Stop Normalising the Rural Health Crisis. Start Fixing It.”
CWA NSW has identified concerns about health services by surveying its membership.
The topic has already sparked debate in Gloucester, and it is hoped that this will increase so that issues of greatest interest both in Gloucester and across NSW can be identified and pursued.
