VIEW clubs across Australia will celebrate 65 years of service in 2025, highlighting its lengthy commitment to improving the lives of children and young people through education.
VIEW, which stands for Voice, Interests, and Education of Women, is a national women’s organisation founded by The Smith Family in 1960.
The aim of VIEW is to support the Smith Family’s efforts to break the cycle of disadvantage through education while also creating a space for women to connect with one another.
In Gloucester, the local VIEW Club actively upholds these principles by assisting four young people through the Smith Family’s Learning for Life program, which helps provide essential educational resources.
This evidence-based program offers emotional, practical, and financial support to help disadvantaged children and young people succeed in their education.
“I joined VIEW because I recognised the importance of supporting young people in their education,” said Vivien Webeck, Vice President of Gloucester VIEW.
“I have seen how the funds we raise positively impact educational outcomes,”
“This anniversary serves as a time for celebration and offers an opportunity to reflect on 65 years of advocacy for women and children, 65 years of friendship and connection, and 65 years of dedicated volunteer efforts that keep VIEW’s initiatives active and impactful.”
Like other clubs nationwide, Gloucester VIEW meets monthly, providing members the chance to engage with like-minded women and to participate in fundraising activities.
“VIEW is an organisation for women of all ages.
“We meet for lunch each month and host a variety of local and out-of-area speakers.
“We always learn something new and love to welcome new members.
“We will be celebrating both VIEW’s 65th anniversary and Gloucester VIEW’s 36th birthday at the May meeting.
“If you’re planning to join us for lunch, please remember to wear blue in honour of the sapphire anniversary.”
The May VIEW Club meeting will be held at the Gloucester Golf Club on Tuesday, 20 May.
RSVP by 15 May to Pat on 0488 430 001 or by emailing milliemac001@gmail.com.
