ON TUESDAY 23 September the Gloucester Veteran Golfers played the second and final round of the Bruce Fraser Trophy with wins to Cheryl Goodrich and Joe Farugia.
The day was fine and sunny with a tinge of coolness in the light breeze, just enough to encourage some good results in a good-sized field.
The day’s event was an Individual Stroke sponsored by Ele Fraser and the winner was Dale Rabbet with a net score of two under 72. Runner up on a count back was Tony Berecry, 75. Ball winners were Ken Kelly 75, Anne Wand, Cheryl Goodrich and Paul Griffiths 76, with the last four balls to Rick Paff, Mark Stone, Karen Howarth and Greg Stephenson 77.
The putting competition was won by Mark Stone on a count back with 28 putts.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophies at the 4th and 13th holes were won by Dale Rabbett and Derek Bardwell.
At the 6th and 15th holes, that honour went to Carolyn Davies and Kev Arney.
The Bruce Fraser Trophies for the best combined score over the two rounds of the competition were won by Cheryl Goodrich for a mighty net score on 140 the best of the women Vets competing with Joe Farugia, 146, the top men’s competitor; runners up were Anne Wand, 152, and Trevor Sharp, 149.
This past Tuesday 30 September the Gloucester vets will have played a Four Ball Better Ball Stableford sponsored by Cathy and Denver Webb.
This coming Tuesday Elaine and Bill Murray sponsor an Individual Stableford.
