TUESDAY 2 June saw the first round of the Gloucester Veteran Golfers Championships with a fine round from Chris Steele showing the way in a good-sized field in ideal weather conditions.
The day’s event was an Individual Stroke sponsored by Joyce & Roy Crichton and the winner was Chris Steele with a net score of 71. Runner up was Peter Sate, 76, and balls were won by Trevor Sharp, Paul Griffiths, Hugh Torode 77, Ken Kelly 78, Arthur Poynting 79, and, on a count back from the field Peter McIntyre 80.
The trophy for the player with the least number of putts in their round was Peter McIntyre
The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophy at the 4th and 13th holes was won by Chris Steele. At the shorter 6th and 15th holes that honour was won by Dale Rabbett and Chris Steele.
On Tuesday 9 June the Veteran Golfers played the second round of their Championships with the third and final round due on 16 June.
