King Street roadworks set to begin in Gloucester

GLOUCESTER residents are advised that major roadworks on King Street will soon get under way, with parts of the street to be partially closed for around three months as Council carries out a full road reconstruction.

The works will take place between Ravenshaw Street and Railway Street, with the first stage focusing on the section between 79 and 89 King Street, near the Railway Street end.

Council crews began setting up the site and carrying out preparatory work in the week beginning 6 July and traffic changes and partial road closures will continue.

While King Street will be partially closed to through traffic during construction, residents will still be able to access their homes.

Council is asking locals to avoid parking in areas where work is under way.

Pedestrian access to Service NSW and the MidCoast Council Customer Service Point will remain open throughout the project via the footpath. Temporary barrier fencing will separate pedestrians from the construction zone.

Customer parking will be available on Railway Street and in sections of King Street not affected by the works, particularly toward the Ravenshaw Street end.

To maintain accessibility, a temporary wheelchair ramp will also be installed beside the Bucketts Way Neighbourhood Centre during the construction period.

Council is urging motorists to take care when travelling near the site, follow all signage, and obey traffic controllers’ directions.

The works will include a full reconstruction of the road surface, along with drainage improvements and strengthening of the underlying road structure.

The project is expected to take around three months, although weather conditions may affect the schedule.

These works form part of Council’s Capital Works Program.
