ON TUESDAY 25 August Mark Stone fought out a close-won win in the Gloucester Veteran Golfers regular outing in what could be described as perfect conditions for golf.
The event was an Individual Stableford, and, despite the great conditions, there were only three players at handicap or better on the day.
The winner was Mark Stone whose 37 points was a count back ahead of the field. Ball winners were headed by Anne Wand 37, with Paul Griffiths 36, Debbie Sate 35, Dale Rabbett 34, Peter Sate, Col Clark and Chris Steele, 33, all winning balls in a good-sized field.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophies at the 4th and 13th holes were won by Gai Falla and Peter Sate with Jim Dunn the winner at the 6th and 15th homes.
On Tuesday 1 September the Gloucester Veteran Golfers were due to play an Ambrose event and next Tuesday Cathy and Denver Webb sponsor an Individual Stableford.
