Parish Wins Mid-Winter Open Golf

SATURDAY 8 August at the Gloucester Golf Club saw the first day of the Club’s Mid-Winter Open with Dave Parish and Dalle Rabbett turning in wins for the men and women respectively.

The event, played in near perfect conditions, was an Individual Stableford with the best gross score determining the overall winners. There were separate net results recorded in three grades for the men and one for the women.

The Men’s Mid-Winter Open Winner was Dave Parish with his 30 scratch points. Dale Rabbett was the Women’s Mid-Winter Open Winner with her 18 scratch points. The A grade winner was Brendon Murray, 37, and runner up in the grade was Dave Parish, 34. In B grade the winner was Geoff Masters, 39, and runner up, Trevor Sharp, 38. Steve Benson, 40, won in C grade and Kev Arny 34, was runner up. For the women it was Nic Osmond, 37, who had the win with Evelyn Blanch, 36, runner up.

The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophies at the 4th and 13th holes were won by Nathan McInnes in A grade, Doug Blanch in B grade, Steve Benson in C grade and Nicole Whale for the women. At the 6th and 15th holes the trophies were won by Phil Bowden, Mark Stone, Bill Murray and Dale Rabbett.

The long drive trophies at the 8th and 17th holes were won by Dave Parish, Geoff Baker, Scott Atkinson and Nicole Whale.

The winner of the Super Sevens ending Friday 7 August was Chris Steele with a score of 17 Stableford points. Ball winners were Rod Burrows 16, Jim Dunn and Dave Saunders 15, with the final ball on a count back to Evelyn Blanch, 14.

This coming Saturday, 15 August, the Gloucester Golf Club will be playing an Individual Stableford. The following Saturday there will be a Steve Burns sponsored Individual Stableford.
