Womens Foursomes Champs

IT WAS a perfect spring day on Wednesday last, 9 September, for Dale Rabbett and Carolyn Davies to win the Gloucester Golf Ladies Foursomes Championships.

The challenge of Foursomes play is that each player alternates shots with their partner over 27 holes in a test to mind and body, with apologies set aside or delivered prior to the start of play.

The local magpies decided to add their own mix of chaos by dive bombing any golfers close to their nests, or, in some cases, those out on the fairway.

The champions for 2026 are Dale Rabbett and Carolyn Davies with a total of 141, with Evelyn Blanch and Myrelle Fraser runners up with a score of 154.

The net winners were Lesley Harrison and Alison Windeyer, who played to their handicap with a net 110½.

They both won a colourful homemade bag from Margaret Dunn, the sponsor for the day.

Balls were won by Rhonda Nightingale and Moya Harris, 114¾; and Cheryl Goodrich and Elaine Murray on 115¼.

Gai Falla and Anne Wand took out the Nearest-to-the-Pin prize on the 4th and 13th holes, while Anne Wand doubled up to win the Division 1 prize on the 6th and 15th holes.

Moya Harris put her two-shots into a good position on the same hole, to win the NTP prize for Division 2.

On Wednesday, 16 September, the Gloucester Golf Ladies will play a Bisque Par event, where players decide on which holes to use their handicap.

Next Wednesday, 23 September, they will play an Individual Stableford.
