FOR the Gloucester Golf Ladies, it was clearly a day for Anne Wand to remember.
Wednesday last, 7 October was the day Anne had the top score across the field, won her division, won the Monthly Medal Playoff, won two NTP trophies and, to top it all off, was the day’s sponsor!
The debate before the start was play or not to play. This was because there was light rain blowing in from the south with more forecasted.
However, the players were all up early to play and the Monthly Medal Playoff was on the schedule.
In the end, the field ventured out for what can only be described as Anne Wand’s Day. She sponsored the day, won Division 1 with a stunning score of 43 points and, in doing so claimed the Medal of Medals for 2026. Division 2 was won by Lesly Harrison with another great score of 41 points.
Balls were won by Johanna Ware 39, Cheryl Goodrich 39, with the final ball going to Carolyn Davies, 37.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophies also had Anne’s name written all over them, taking those prizes at the 4th and 13th holes as well as for Division 1 on the 6th and 15th holes. Julie Paterson was closest for Division 2 at the 6th and 15th holes.
This Wednesday, 14 October, the Gloucester Golf Ladies will play their annual Town versus Country event, an Individual Stableford, with the team with the highest aggregate score claiming bragging rights until next year. On Wednesday next, 21 October, Alison Windeyer sponsors an Individual Stroke event.
