DEREK Bardwell performed well in winning the Gloucester Veteran Golfers day on the paddock on Tuesday 13 October.
The event, an Individual Stroke, was sponsored by Debbie and Peter Sate and was played in humid conditions with a relatively small field brave enough to defy the threat of rain evident early on.
The winner was Derek Bardwell with net score of 68, four strokes inside his handicap. The runner up was Ele Fraser 69, just one stroke behind the leader. Balls were won by Trevor Sharp 70, Roy Crichton 72, Anne Wand 72, and, on a count back, Mark Stone 73.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophies were won by Trevor Sharp at the 4th and 13th holes and by Mark Stone at the 6th and 15th holes. Mark Stone was also the best of the putters on the day with 27 putts in his round.
This past Tuesday, 20 October, the Gloucester Veteran Golfers played an Irish Four Ball Stableford sponsored by Margaret and Jim Dunn and Robyn and Tony Burnet.
Tuesday of next week, 27 October, there will be an Individual Stableford sponsored by Anne and Ian Maggs.
