Gloucester Golf Blundell Memorial Golf Day

SATURDAY 28 March was a Memorial Day for Tom Blundell whose generosity funded the establishment of the “Back Bar” at the clubhouse.

Tom’s Day was fine with cool breezes early and warm almost ideal golfing conditions for most players.

The event was a Four Person Ambrose with Paul Blanch, Jackson Blanch, Wayne Maddalena and Graeme Marsh turning in a winning performance with a net score of 56.375 just a countback ahead of second placed team on the same net score, Brian Osborne, Ellen Osborne, Ben Veitch and Paul Coote. In third place were Jamie Andrews, James McLeod, Ryan Yates and John Cornelius 56.675.

The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophy at the 4th and 13th holes was won by Matt Bowden who finished 368 cm from the hole. At the 6th and 15th holes Stacey Groves was closest at 140 cm.

The Long Drive trophy at the 1st and 10th holes was won by Paul Blanch while at the 8th and 17th John Cornelius was longest off the teeing area.

The Super Sevens for the week ending Friday 27 March was won by Chris Steele 18 and balls were won by Derek Wand 17 and Jim Dunn and Peter Markey 15.

This coming Saturday the Gloucester Golf Club will be playing the April Monthly Medal, an Individual Stroke event sponsored by Arkwood Organic Recycling. The following Saturday the Holstein family will sponsor an Individual Stableford.
