Gloucester Scorpions Local Competition

ROUND 7

After several weeks off due to weather and the long weekend, it was fantastic to see the Gloucester Soccer Complex buzzing with activity once again as Round 7 of the Gloucester Scorpions Local Competition got underway.

The winter sunshine was welcomed by players, families and volunteers alike, with smiles all around as junior soccer returned to the pitch.

The Accommodation Gloucester Mini Roos competition saw both Cam Hughes Carpentry and NJL 1on1 Constructions enjoy another fun-filled morning of soccer. While scores aren’t kept at this level, the improvement in ball skills, confidence and teamwork continues to shine through each week. Most importantly, the young players were having fun and enjoying every minute on the field.

In LMD Building Services Division 3, CalCo Surveyors took on Australia Post Gloucester, while Andrew Johnson Carpentry faced Level Electrical. The season is beginning to take shape, with players showing growing confidence, improved positioning and some excellent teamwork. Coaches and spectators alike have been impressed by the development of players across all Division 3 teams.

The Loveys IGA Gloucester Division 2 competition delivered plenty of excitement. Ollies Service Centre recorded a 7–0 victory over Gloucester Community Shop, however the scoreline didn’t tell the full story, with both teams producing some excellent passages of play throughout the match.

The clash between Millard Ag and Avon Valley Meats was another entertaining contest, with Millard Ag finishing strongly to secure a 10–1 victory. Players from both teams continued to display great sportsmanship and determination from start to finish.

The day’s feature match in the Gloss-Ter Carwash Division 1 competition saw Gloucester Bowling Club and Betta Gloucester put on a goal-scoring spectacle for spectators. In a fast-paced and entertaining game, both teams attacked with intent and created plenty of scoring opportunities. Betta Gloucester eventually came away with a hard-fought 5–3 victory, but both sides should be congratulated on an excellent game played in great spirit.

The newly launched Turner Freeman Mixed Seniors Competition, has proven popular, providing a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for adults of all skill levels to enjoy the game. With registrations closing this week, anyone considering joining is encouraged to sign up and come along for a kick every Saturday at 11:30am.

The Gloucester Scorpions Soccer Club would also like to acknowledge and thank the many volunteers, coaches, managers, referees and families who continue to make local junior soccer possible each week. Community sport simply wouldn’t happen without your ongoing support, dedication and countless hours behind the scenes.

As the season approaches the halfway mark, the enthusiasm on the field continues to grow, and Gloucester’s young Scorpions are showing plenty of promise for the weeks ahead.
