Gloucester soccer mini roos action

WITH perfect winter weather and a great atmosphere around the grounds, Round 8 of the Gloucester Scorpions Local Competition delivered another memorable morning of soccer.

The Accommodation Gloucester Mini Roos competition saw both Cam Hughes Carpentry and NJL 1on1 Constructions enjoy another fun-filled morning on the pitch. While scores aren’t recorded at this level, the improvement in ball skills, confidence and teamwork continues to be evident each week. Most importantly, the players were smiling, learning and enjoying every minute of their soccer experience.

In the LMD Building Services Division 3 competition, CalCo Surveyors took on Level Electrical, while Andrew Johnson Carpentry faced Australia Post Gloucester. Across both matches, players demonstrated growing confidence, improved positioning and excellent teamwork. It has been wonderful to watch the development of all Division 3 players as the season progresses.

The Loveys IGA Gloucester Division 2 competition produced one of the closest matches of the day, with Millard Ag securing a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Ollies Service Centre. The game was evenly contested throughout, with every player contributing and plenty of exciting passages of play.

The clash between Gloucester Community Shop and Avon Valley Meats was another entertaining encounter. Gloucester Community Shop finished strongly to record a 9–1 victory, but both teams displayed excellent sportsmanship, determination and enthusiasm from the opening whistle to full-time.

The day’s feature match in the Gloss-Ter Carwash Division 1 competition certainly didn’t disappoint. Gloucester Bowling Club and Betta Gloucester put on a thrilling display of attacking soccer that had spectators captivated from start to finish. It appeared Betta Gloucester had the game under control, however Gloucester Bowling Club dug deep and staged a remarkable comeback to secure an exciting 6–4 victory. Both teams should be congratulated on a fantastic game played in great spirit.

The Turner Freeman Mixed Seniors Competition continues to attract strong interest from players across the district. The competition has quickly become a popular addition to Saturday mornings, providing a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for adults of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the game. Registrations close this week, so anyone considering joining is encouraged to register and come along for a kick at 11:30am each Saturday.

The club would also like to thank the many volunteers, coaches, managers, referees and families who continue to make local soccer possible each week. Community sport simply would not happen without your dedication, support and countless hours of work behind the scenes.

As we move past the halfway point of the season, the enthusiasm around the club continues to grow. The future is looking bright for Gloucester Soccer, and our young Scorpions are showing plenty of promise for the weeks and seasons ahead.

This coming Saturday promises to be one of the highlights of the season as the club hosts Gloucester World Cup Day & Sponsors Day. We invite all players, families, sponsors and supporters to come along and enjoy a fun-filled morning of soccer, community spirit and friendly rivalry as Australia takes on the USA in our World Cup-themed activities. It’s also an opportunity for us to thank our valued sponsors, whose support helps make local soccer possible. Come along, enjoy the fun and be part of a fantastic day at the Gloucester Soccer Complex.
