IT WAS a day all players saw as more like summer than spring on Tuesday, 15 September, and Derek Wand rose to the occasion five points ahead of the field of Gloucester Veteran Golfers.
The event was an Individual Stableford sponsored by Joanne and Col Ware. The winner in a handy-sized field was Wand with a score of 43 Stableford points.
Balls were won by Tony Berecry and Derek Bardwell 38, Trevor Sharp and Col Clark 37, with Bill Murray, 36, picking up the last ball on offer.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophies at the 4th and 13th holes were won by Sally Higgins and Derek Wand.
At the 6th and 15th holes Karen Howarth and Steve Hurworth earned the trophies.
On Tuesday 22 September the Gloucester Vets played a Gary Peters-sponsored Individual Stroke event.
Next Tuesday, 29 September, there will be an Individual Stableford sponsored by Carol and Trevor Sharp.
