Letter to the Editor: A heartfelt thank you to the community of Gloucester

DEAR News Of The Area,

ON Saturday, 6 September, just after midnight, our Craven Plateau home and farm shed were totally destroyed by an electrical fire.

We would like to express our thanks to the Barrington and Gloucester RFS as well as the Gloucester Town Brigade.

They reached the Plateau in record time and did a fantastic job containing the fire.

Senior Constable Scott Chester of the Gloucester Station also attended and we were very touched by his concern for our wellbeing.

A special thanks to Alison Blanch and family who reported to 000 and cared for us until morning.

Sandi Crain-Cowan, Community Officer for Barrington RFS, set up a donation station on Sunday morning to receive practical donations that would immediately help us.

Chris and I escaped the fire with only minutes to spare and with only our phones and wallets.

Total destruction, nothing left.

The locals rallied.

The RFS passed the hat around.

Our community was extremely generous.

We are so grateful for the support we received.

Chris said to me that this is the first day of our new life.

It will not be easy but with the support of our family, friends and neighbours we are looking ahead.

Paddy and Suzie of the Bowman community have offered use of their home.

We are so grateful to our local community.

We live in a beautiful place with wonderful people.

Thank you to everyone,
Chris and Peter PFISTER.

You can help your local paper.

Make a small once-off, or (if you can) a regular donation.

We are an independent family owned business and our newspapers are free to collect and our news stories are free online.

Help support us into the future.
