IT WAS a small field that ventured out for the Gloucester Golf Ladies last Wednesday, 21 October, with other players perhaps deterred by the threat of rain or the fact it was a stroke event. Not that this deterred Margaret Dun from turning in a good score to lead the field home on a count back.
The event was an Individual Stroke with a putting contest in conjunction. The winner was Margaret Dunn, playing better than her handicap with a net score of 72; she headed Carolyn Davies on a countback. Margaret took home the prize for the day, from sponsor Alison Windeyer.
Carolyn won a ball for her efforts, with Susie Higgins taking the other ball on offer with a score of 77 after another countback, from her playing partner, Myrelle Fraser.
Susie Higgins and Carolyn Davies also took out the Nearest-to-the-Pin prizes, on the 4th and 13th holes and the 6th and 15th holes, respectively.
On Wednesday, 28 October the Gloucester Golf Ladies played a Three-Person Ambrose event, with beginner golfers invited to join in the fun. The following Wednesday, 3 November, sees the start of the series of 12-hole Stableford events for their Summer Competition.
