IT WAS a fine, sunny and warm winter’s day on Saturday 25 July, at the Gloucester Golf Club with Dave Robbinsd and Ben Veitch showing the way on a great day for golf even with the course playing a little on the heavy side.
The event was a Four Ball Aggregate Stableford sponsored by the Yates family. The winning pair with a combined 69 points was Dave Robbins and Ben Veitch. Two points behind in the runners up spot were Jamie Andrews and Mitch Andrews 67. Balls were won by Dave Robbins and Ben Veitch 69, Jamie Andrews and Mitch Andrews 67, Simon Fox and John Cornelius 66; Paul Coote and Brian Osborne 63, with the final balls to Bill Murray and Brendon Flowers also with 63 points.
The top individual score of 38 was turned in by John Cornelius.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophies at the 4th and 13th holes were won Jamie Andrews in A grade, Dave Saunders in B grade and Hayden Cornall in C grade. At the 6th and 15th holes those closest in the three grades were Nev O’Neill, Peter Bignall and Steve Benson.
The long drive trophies at the 8th and 17th holes were won by Dave Parish, Ryan Yates and Ben Flowers.
The winner of the Super Sevens for the week ending Friday 24 July was Jim Dunn, 19 points. Balls were won by Graeme Marsh 16, Peter McIntyre and Rob Moore 14, with the final two to Simon Fox and Bill Murray 13.
