THE black cockatoos were flying overhead and the threat of rain present, the field was keen to get started last Wednesday 27 May for the Gloucester Golf Ladies with Carolyn Davies and Myrelle Fraser taking top honours.
The lush fairways told the story of skilful greenkeeper and his team of volunteers, aided by steady rain over the last few weeks.
The event was a Two Person Ambrose and the winners were Myrelle Fraser and Carolyn Davies, who returned a net score of 72¼; they both received a great bag of goodies from the sponsor for the day, Lesly Harrison. Cheryl Goodrich and Elaine Murray won a ball each for their team score of 76½.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin prize on the 4th and 13th holes was won by Myrelle Fraser and Carolyn Davies, with Cheryl Goodrich getting the prize at the 6th and 15th holes.
On Wednesday 3 June the Gloucester Golf Ladies were due to play an Individual Stableford for their Monthly Medal. Next Wednesday 10 June, they will play an Individual Stroke event for the WGNSW Medal.
