Yates best in Saturday Golf

AT THE Gloucester Golf Club on Saturday 14 March Ryan Yates turned in the top score of the day under fair conditions at the course.

The event was an Individual Stableford sponsored by McGrath Real Estate. In A grade Stacey Groves needed a count back to record a win in the grade with 37 points. Ryan Yates was the clear winner in B grade and

Hayden Cornall’s 37 was good for a clear win in C grade.

Balls were won by Ryan Yates 39, Stacey Groves, Roy Crichton, Hayden Cornall, Chris Murray and Jeff Reynolds all with scores of 37 points and the last two balls went to Steve MacDonald and Lianne Markey, 35.

The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophies at the 4^th and 13^th holes were won by Jamie Andrews and Ryan Yates representing the top two grades. It was a full house at the shorter 6^th and 15^th holes with wins to Stacey Groves in A grade, Jeff Reynolds in B grade and Bill Murray in C grade.

The top long drives at the 8^th and 17^th holes went to Stacey Groves, Ryan Yates and Jonny Tighe in the three men’s grades with Lianne Markey best of the women golfers.

The Super Sevens for the week ending Friday 13 March was Stacey Groves with a handy score of 16 points. Balls were won by Dave Mann and Ken Kelly 15, and Dave Saunders 14.

This coming Saturday, 21 March, the Gloucester golfers will be playing their Derros Day, a Four Ball Better Ball Stableford event with an Individual Stableford in conjunction. The following Saturday the Club will celebrate the memory of Tom Blundell with a Four person Ambrose.
