THE challenge was on for the second round of the Gloucester Golf Ladies Championships last Wednesday 17 June. The greenkeeper had set the tees back on the plates, and the pins were found in those hard to putt to places. The grass was damp from dew long into the round and the rough was holding on to any ball that ventured off the fairway.
Anne Wand won Division 1 with a solid net score of 75, while Susie Higgins won Division 2 with her 78. The two winners won a voucher each from Tracy’s Salon in Barrington, who generously sponsors a day for the ladies each year.
Gai Falla’s 75 just missed out again in Division 1 beaten on the day by a count back and had to settle for the first ball of the day, with balls also going to Carolyn Davies, 77, Evelyn Blanch, 79 and Sally Higgins 82.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin prize on the 4th and 13th holes was won by Evelyn Blanch, with Karen Howarth following suit at the 6th and 15th holes for Division 1.
On Wednesday 24 June the Gloucester Golf Ladies will play the third and final round of their Championship for 2026. The following Wednesday, 1 July there will be a Monthly Medal in the form of an Individual Stableford.
