ALTHOUGH the course at the Gloucester Golf Club looks in great shape, the scores on Saturday 20 June indicate it was still a tad tough going with overall winner Ben Veitch the only player finishing inside his handicap.
The event was an Individual Stableford sponsored by the Gloucester Cavaliers Cricket Club quite a number of whose members swelled out the field nicely.
It was Ben Veitch with an individual score of 37 who finished overall winner on the day. Otherwise, the top score in A grade was Chris Murray, 36, with Phil Bowden as runner up with his 35. Best in B grade was Rob Moore 36 on a count back from runner up Hayden Tull, also scoring 36 points. In C grade Paul Garland’s was the lead scorer with runner up Dave Robbins, 31.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophies at the 4th and 13th holes were won by Nathan McInnes in A grade and Mitch Young in B grade with nary a C grade player in sight. At the 6th and 15th holes it was Dave Parish, Rob Moore, again, and Bill Murray who represented the three grades.
At the 8th and 17th holes, the three grades in the long drive competition were won by Jamie Andrews, John Cornelius and Paul Coote.
The Super Sevens for the week concluding Friday 19 June was won by Jonny Tighe who scored 18 points. Balls were won by Wayne Maddalena 16, and Steve West, Arthur Poynting and Peter McIntyre 15.
This coming Saturday 27 June the Gloucester Golf Club will be hosting their annual Westpac Helicopter Charity Day. The following Saturday, 4 July, there will be the July Monthly Medal, an Individual Stroke event sponsored by Arkwood Organic Recycling.
