ADVERTORIAL: Knowla Livestock Production, Knowla Sale Team Under Preparation

PREPARATIONS are well underway for the annual Knowla Livestock Production Sale, to be held at Kanangara, Kia Ora via Gloucester on Friday, 31 July.

The Laurie family at Moppy has assembled a catalogue similar in size to last year, with 84 bulls, six specially selected PTIC stud heifers and 100 unmated commercial heifers under preparation.

The bulls are all on aerially sown winter pastures following completion of the cataloguing process.

They have been tested for Pestivirus and vaccinated against Vibrio and Three Day Sickness.

DNA testing and parent verification have been completed, along with the processing of comprehensive performance data submitted to Angus Australia, producing high-accuracy EBVs for all stud animals in the sale.

The bulls have also undergone structural assessment and ultrasound scanning by Roger Evans and have been vet checked and semen tested by Stuart Knox to ensure they are sale ready.

New bloodlines introduced this year include progeny from the US semen sires Hoover About It and Connealy Way Maker. Their offspring display strong early growth, above-average muscle expression and excellent temperaments, making them well suited to weaner production operations.

Walking sires Dulverton Smart Missile S068 and Glenisa Moe S154 are also represented, with sons displaying additional frame while retaining yield, capacity and temperament.

The $190,000 Knowla So Right S48 is again strongly represented, with progeny displaying carcase shape and softness.

So Right has featured prominently in sale catalogues throughout Australia and New Zealand, producing a number of sale toppers.

The $130,000 Lawson’s Rocky R4010 also has several outstanding sons in the catalogue, offering growth, carcase merit and calving ease, while his first daughters are excelling for milking ability.

Landfall Signature S1755 is another well-represented calving ease sire, noted for docility and a breed-leading combination of EMA and IMF.

Returning US sire Baldridge Versatile also features, with sons displaying volume, capacity and outstanding temperament.

The six PTIC stud heifers represent similar bloodlines to the sale bulls.

Among them is a daughter of Knowla So Right S48, PTIC to the $275,000 Cluden Newry Uppercut U15.

Daughters of Hoover About It and Connealy Way Maker are also catalogued, providing access to elite Angus genetics.

The commercial heifers, all by stud sires, will be offered unjoined in pens of 14 to 15 head.

The annual Inspection Day will be held at Kanangara, Kia Ora on Friday, 17 July, with sale bulls and stud females penned from 10am to 3pm and commercial females available for paddock inspection.

The sale will be interfaced with AuctionsPlus, with full videos available prior to the event.

Free local delivery is available on all catalogued bulls.
