LAST Wednesday, 22 April, saw four seasons in a day, with the cool morning morph into some sunny patches before a brief shower swept over the course, just as the Gloucester Golf Ladies were playing their final hole. This was the backdrop for handy wins by Evelyn Blanch and Suzie Higgins as they played their second Womens Golf NSW Medal event for the year.
The players were clearly up to the challenge of a stroke event. The winner in Division 1 was Evelyn Blanch with an outstanding net score of 69, with Susie Higgins also playing better than her handicap to win Division 2 with a 71. Both won a bag of goodies from the sponsor of the day, Carolyn Davies. Balls were won by Dale Rabbett, 73, and to a cluster of players on 74, Moya Harris, Cheryl Goodrich and Johanna Ware.
Lesly Harrison won the Nearest-to-the-Pin prize at the 4th and 13th holes while Evelyn Blanch was on target to take out the prize on the 6th and 15th holes in Division 1 along with Liane Markey in Division 2. Carolyn Davies took out the putting trophy with 28 putts for her round.
This Wednesday, 29 April, the Gloucester Golf Ladies will play their Four Ball Better Ball Championships, and next Wednesday, 6 May, Susie Higgins is due to sponsor an Individual Stableford for their Monthly Medal.
The Gloucester Golf Ladies won their final pennants contest on Monday 20 April, playing at Port Macquarie against Forster-Tuncurry with a 3-2 victory. Carolyn Davies, Dale Rabbett and Deb Sate won their matches. Gloucester finished the group stage tied in first place on points with Port Sapphires, only to end up in second place on a countback.
