Gloucester CWA reflects on another successful year

GLOUCESTER Branch of the CWA held its annual general meeting on Tuesday, 13 October.

Officer bearers delivered their annual reports, with outgoing president Anne Williamson’s highlighting just what a busy year the branch has had.

Mid North Coast group president Lyn Moore chaired the meeting for the election of officers.

Successful fundraising activities have allowed the branch to donate to the CWA disaster relief fund, medical research and the Fiji Eye Project.

CWA NSW approved a donation of $55,000 from the International Fund to support communities affected by the devastating floods in Nepal.

Local schools have also received funds for end-of-year presentation assemblies.

In September, the branch hosted the Mid North Coast Group’s International and Cultural Day, catering for 64 attendees.

The keynote speaker from the Fiji Eye Project, Reverend Brian Jago (retired) was born in Fiji and complimented the caterers on the authenticity of the Fijian cuisine.

The branch is working towards its major fund-raiser, Santa’s Christmas Cave, which will be held at the CWA Hall in Church Street on Friday, 20 November between 2pm and 6pm, and Saturday, 21 November, between 9am and 3pm.

Unique gifts, cakes, Christmas treats, and refreshments will be on sale, while children can enjoy craft activities.

Santa will be on hand for photo opportunities, with photos with Santa starting at $15.

The branch will also host Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, 28 November; Saturday, 5 December; and Saturday,12 December; at a cost of $10.

Pet lovers can have their photos taken with Santa and their pets on Saturday, 19 December.
