Hockey season starting to ramp up in Gloucester

THE local hockey season is now underway with a Hook in 2 Hockey program starting on Monday 9 March from 3:30-5pm at Cook Park.

Gloucester hockey coach Ollie Rinkin has been running this successful grassroots initiative for many years, playing a key role in the development of countless talented players.

Joanne Charlier from Gloucester Panthers Hockey said the club is building on a successful 2025.

“Gloucester had a great season of hockey in 2025 with both our teams in the Manning Valley Hockey Association winning the Division 3 Juniors and Men’s C Grade competitions.

“Gloucester has formed a partnership with Taree West Raiders Hockey Club which has been going strong, allowing our players to progress through the higher divisions and grades.”

Aside from the club’s progress, individual players also shone last season.

“We would also like to recognise some outstanding achievements by our Gloucester players,” Joanne said.

“In particular Jarrah Baker, who was awarded Division 2 Best and Fairest and also Rookie Umpire of the Year.

“Also Sebastian House, who was awarded Goal Keeper of the Year by the Manning Valley Hockey Association. “Congratulations to these players for their achievements.”
The local public school also got in on the hockey action.

“Another fantastic hockey achievement was made by the boys at Gloucester Public School winning the NSW PSSA Boys Knock Out State Championships,” Joanne said.

“Mr Hayden White, who is one of the teachers at Gloucester Public School and who coached this winning side, is also a hockey player and this year he is coaching the Division 2 Taree West Juniors while also playing with the Men’s B grade team.”

The Manning Valley Hockey Association’s representative hockey season begins on 20 March.
