REGIONAL Development Australia Mid North Coast (RDAMNC) has appointed Kate Dunn as the new Local Connector for the MidCoast local government area, with the role commencing on 1 July.
The appointment follows the NSW Government’s decision to expand The Welcome Experience into the MidCoast Local Government Area, with RDAMNC delivering the program across MidCoast, Port Macquarie-Hastings, Kempsey Shire and Nambucca Valley until June 2027.
RDAMNC Chief Executive Officer Dr Madeleine Lawler said the dual appointment would strengthen support services for new residents.
“What makes this moment particularly meaningful is the opportunity to work alongside the MidCoast Community Connector’s program.
“Their initiative has actively and consistently delivered for the MidCoast communities over the last few years and delivering these two programs concurrently gives us a real opportunity to collaborate, share networks and amplify what is already working,” Dr Lawler said.
Ms Dunn brings extensive experience to the position, having worked as the MidCoast Community Connector since July 2023 under the “AH202 – Support When We Need It” initiative.
That program was developed by a coalition of local organisations from the health, education, community services, disability, business and local government sectors to attract and retain skilled workers in the region.
In November 2025, the initiative evolved into the CROWD Initiative through a partnership with Taree Universities Campus and regional stakeholders, continuing its focus on workforce attraction and retention.
Throughout both programs, Ms Dunn has assisted incoming professionals from a wide range of industries, including healthcare, engineering, trades and senior management, helping them settle into the MidCoast community.
Under her new role, Ms Dunn will work directly with essential workers and their families relocating to the region, offering support with housing, schooling, childcare, employment opportunities for partners and community connections.
The Welcome Experience is a free NSW Government service available to eligible workers in sectors including health, aged care, education, veterinary services, policing, emergency services and local government.
