ON A day when all trophy winners played inside their handicap Peter Markey’s score on Saturday 3 October was nothing short of outstanding; he finished twelve strokes better than his handicap would indicate.
The event was the Gloucester Golf Club’s Monthly Medal an Individual Stroke event sponsored by Arkwood Organic Recycling..
The winner of the October Monthly Medal was Peter Markey whose net score of 60 was twelve strokes inside his handicap and six ahead of the high achieving field.
The winning net score in A grade was that of Nathan McInnes whose scored a net 72; his gross score of 77 was also the best in the grade. In B grade the best net and gross scores were turned in by former member Mike Howard now playing regularly at Sawtell Golf Club; his scores were a creditable 66 and 80. In C grade the standout player was Medal winner Peter Markey who net score was 60 and gross score 85.
Balls were won by Peter Markey 60, Paul Griffiths 66 Mike Howard 66 Peter Sate 67, Paul Coote 69, John Parish 69, Tom Markey 69, and Brian McInnes 70.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophies at the 4th and 13th holes were won by Luke Rankovitch from Waratah Golf Club in A grade and John Nicolson in B grade. At the 6th and 15th holes the three grades were represented on the NTP card by Ben Veitch, John Cornelius and Peter Markey.
The Super Sevens for the week ending Friday 2 October was won by Clint Patton with 18 points. He was followed by ball winners Ray Pittman 15, Mark Garner 15, and Rob Moore 14 on a count back.
This coming Saturday, 10 October, the Gloucester Golf Club will be playing an Individual Stableford sponsored by The Two Garys. The following Saturday, there will be another Individual Stableford, this time sponsored by the Rawdon Vale Boys.
