THE weather was overcast and conditions fair for the second round of the Gloucester Veteran Golfers Championships held Tuesday 9 June with Trevor Sharp turning in a handy round for the top net score of the day.
The day’s event was an Individual Stroke sponsored by Jean and Peter Buettel. The winner with a net score of 70 was Trevor Sharp. Runner up on a count back was Gary Peters, 72. Ball winners were Derek Wand 72, Rod Burrows, Mark Stone, and Ele Fraser 76 with the last two balls to Anne Wand and Derek Bardwell. 78.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophy at the 4th and 13th holes was won by Karen Howarth. At the 6th and 15th holes that honour went to Carolyn Davies and Trevor Sharp. The player with the least number of putts in their round was the day’s winner, Trevor Sharp, who had 28 putts on a count back.
The leaders of the Veterans’ Championships going into the third and final round on Tuesday 16 June are Ken Kelly in A grade, Derek Wand in B grade, Peter Buettel in C grade and Carolyn Davies for the Women Veterans. On Tuesday, 23 June, the Veteran Golfers will be playing an Individual Stableford sponsored by Arthur Poynting.
