SEVEN members of the Gloucester CWA Evening Branch held a stall in Church Street on Saturday, 13 September as part of the 2025 CWA ‘Awareness Week’.
“CWA Awareness Week provides branches with the opportunity to acknowledge and raise awareness of their work in the community and give other women a taste of the fun and friendship enjoyed by members in their town,” the CWA states.
This year’s theme was about promoting the benefits of seasonal eating.
It was also designed to provide the opportunity for members to discuss the importance of reducing food waste in Australia and improving food security for all Australians.
“Local members handed out information brochures focusing on the urgent need to change how we think about purchasing and consuming food – emphasising the economic, environmental and health benefits,” said local branch member Barbara Reichert.
“These highlight ways to help household grocery budgets and ease the cost-of-living pressures.”
The Evening Branch’s next major event will be their annual Cancer Breakfast to be held at the CWA rooms on Monday, 20 October commencing at 7.30am, where a delicious breakfast will be on offer, with all funds raised being donated to the two Gloucester cancer support groups.
