Gloucester Golf Women on Wednesday win for Murray

THE Gloucester Golf Ladies played their first Women’s Golf NSW Medal stroke event for the year on Wednesday 25 March on a glorious Gloucester autumn day.

Elaine Murray blew away the field in Division 1 with a brilliant 67 net. There was a hopeful trio of players already back in the clubhouse who had each played better than their handicap, when Elaine calmly handed in her card.

It was a much closer contest in Division 2, with Cheryl Goodrich winning the day with a score of 78 net on a countback from Margaret Dunn. The generous sponsor for the day was Dorothea Betts.

Balls were won by Carolyn Davies, 70, Debbie Sate, 71 and Myrelle Fraser, 72.

Carolyn Davies won the Nearest-to-the-Pin prize at the 4th and 13th holes, while Debbie Sate took the prize for Division 1 on the 6th and 15th holes.

The women’s pennant team had their first loss of the season on Monday 23 March, playing at Emerald Downs against Wauchope.

The Gloucester Golf Ladies will play a Monthly Medal, an Individual Stableford event sponsored by Pat Burrows on Wednesday 1 April. The following week, 8 April, they will play the first round of their Match Play Championships.
