Goal! Grant delivers new home ground facilities for Gloucester Soccer Club

Gloucester Soccer Club’s existing inadequate facilities.

PLAYERS and officials from the Gloucester Soccer Club (the Scorpions) will soon enjoy top class facilities after being awarded a $254,603 grant for the construction of all-ability toilets, change rooms and referee facilities at their Boundary Road home ground.

The Club, which caters for players from MiniRoos aged 4-years-old through to senior participants aged 18 and over, has approximately 170 registrations each year.

The club runs both a winter outdoor competition and a summer Futsal season, providing opportunities for players to stay involved in the game year-round.

It is also actively involved in the annual Masters Games, working alongside the local Sports Committee to support community participation.

The funding, which comes through the NSW Government Infrastructure Grants Program, marks a significant milestone for the club and the wider community.

Club President Trudy Schultz said the announcement was an exciting moment for the club.

“The committee is absolutely thrilled to receive this funding,“ said Ms Schultz.

“These facilities have been part of our long-term vision, and we are excited to move forward and bring this project to life for our players, referees, and community.”

Ms Schultz explained that the funding had come at a particularly meaningful time, with 2026 marking 50 years of soccer in Gloucester.

“It’s wonderful to see this long-term goal finally become a reality,” said grant co-ordinator Wendy Hughes.

“We have put a lot of work into grant applications over the past 12 months, and receiving this funding is a fantastic result for the club.”

Ms Hughes also acknowledged previous support received from Northern NSW Football, which helped strengthen the club’s position in applying for this major grant.

The Club intends to share updates with the community as the project progresses.
