THE Zonta e-Club of NSW and ACT has been established as a new online branch of Zonta International, a global organisation with over 100 years of history.
The small but growing group is looking for others who want to help build an effective online advocacy community focused on key issues affecting women and girls.
This year, one of the group’s major priorities is raising community awareness about the new coercive control laws in NSW, with similar legislation expected soon in the ACT.
Unlike traditional Zonta clubs which meet in person, the e-Club is designed for people in rural and regional areas and for others who prefer to meet online.
“We don’t just raise awareness – we take action,” a club representative said.
“And we’re building something new, which means members can come in at an early stage and help shape the direction of our work.”
Members come from diverse backgrounds – farmers, students, businesspeople, teachers, professionals, employees – but share a common goal: creating a better future for women and girls.
For those seeking more information, a ‘Discovery Session’ will be held at 6.30pm on Wednesday 20 May via Zoom.
Existing members will introduce attendees to current projects, opportunities for involvement, and how individuals can use their voice as part of a larger collective.
“This isn’t just about joining a club,” the group says.
“It’s about being part of shaping what comes next.”
