LAST Wednesday, 20 May, was the rest day for Gloucester’s Veterans Week of Golf and the Gloucester Golf Ladies ventured onto the course, joined by a small band from Gloucester’s male veterans, disappointed at not getting their normal Tuesday Vets outings.
The event was an Individual Stroke and the winner Cheryl Goodrich turned in a solid net 74, just outside her handicap, with Bill Murray close behind as runner up with a score of net 75.
They both won prizes from the sponsor of the day, Gai Falla, with Cheryl also winning the Women’s Golf NSW Medal.
Balls were won by Pat Burrows, 77, Debbie Sate and Susie Higgins, 80, and Sally Higgins, 81, scores which showed the course is playing hard.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin prize on the 4th and 13th holes was won by Carolyn Davies, while Paul Griffiths, in Division 1, and Sally Higgins, Division 2, were on target at the 6th and 15th holes.
This Wednesday, 27 May, the Gloucester Golf Ladies were due to play a Three Person Ambrose and next Wednesday, 3 June, there is scheduled an Individual Stableford for the June Monthly Medal.
