IT WAS a close-run thing on Tuesday 12 May for the Gloucester Veteran Golfers with three players sharing the leading score and just one, Paul Griffiths prevailing on a count back.
The day was fine and mild with a good-sized field turning out. The event, sponsored by Debie and Peter Sate was an Individual Stableford with Paul Griffiths’ 37 taking top honours on after a favourable count back.
Balls were won by Karen Howarth and Peter Sate 37, Anne Wand and Arthur Poynting 35, Peter McIntyre 34, with Max Shepherd, 32, picking up the last ball on a count back.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin trophy at the 4th and 13th holes was won by Peter McIntyre. At the shorter 6th and 15th holes, that honour was won by Anne Wand and Bill Murray.
For four days Monday 18 through Friday 22 May, the Gloucester Veteran Golfers are hosting their annual Veterans Week of Golf with members and visitors. Next Tuesday, 26 May, they play a Four Ball Aggregate Stableford.
