Visitor with Top Score in Golf

IT WAS a superb day for golf at the Gloucester Golf Course on Saturday 22 August attracting a crowd of visitors so it was indeed appropriate that a visitor should turn in the top score across the field.

The event was a Steve Burns sponsored Individual Stableford and the winner in A grade was Shelley Beach visitor Nigel Rigby with a score of 37 points; runner up on a count back was Steve Williams 33. In B grade it was Mark Stone whose 35 was best over runner up Dave Saunders, 33, by virtue of a count back from the field.  Nathan Webber was best in C grade with his 35 points on a count back from runner up, John Nicolson also 35. Balls were won by Nigel Rigby 37, Nathan Webber, John Nicolson and Mark Stone, 35, Josh Wilson and Dave Robbins, 34, with the final ball trophies to Paul Garland, Steve Williams, Stacey Groves and Greg West, 33.

There was only one player across the large filed good enough to rate for a Nearest-to-the-Pin trophy at the 4^th and 13^th holes: A grade player Stacey Groves. It was a different matter at the 6^th and 15^th holes with Connor Rigby, Mark Stone and Nathan Webber representing the three grades.

The long drive trophies at the 8^th and 17^th holes were won by Nathan McInnes, Geoff Reynolds and Chris Doppler in the three grades.

The smaller than normal field in the Super Sevens this last week did not prevent a solid clutch of players finishing well inside their handicap at the top of the leader board with Greg West taking top honours with 17 points after a favourable count back. Balls were won by Graeme Marsh and Kev Arney also with 17 points while Bill Murray, 16, picking up the last ball.

This coming Saturday 29 August the Bowden Brothers sponsor a four Person Ambrose and the following Saturday there will be the September Monthly Medal sponsored by Arkwood Organic Recycling.
