LAST Wednesday 19 August, Suzie Higgins had a “blinder” seven points ahead of her handicap to win her division and the Monthly Medal for the Gloucester Golf Ladies’.
The day may have looked like a possible wet one overnight but turned into a great day for golf. The event was the Women’s Monthly Medal, and Individual Stableford sponsored by Moya Harris.
The winners in the two divisions were Cheryl Goodrich in Division 1 with her 38 points although the star of the day was Suzie Higgins who’s 43 points was the best in Division 2 and earned her the Monthly Medal.
Balls were won by Moya Harris, 38, Margaret Dunn 32, and Julie Paterson, 31 on a count back.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin at the 4th and 13th holes was won by Cheryl Goodrich and, at the 6th and 15th holes it was Debbie Sate in Division 1 and Suzie Higgins in Division 2 who were closest to the flag off the tee.
When the Barrington Coast Challenge was played at Taree on Monday, 17 August, the Gloucester Golf Ladies were defending their title from its last run in 2024. Unhappily for the Gloucester team, the Challenge was won by Tare, the home team, over Forster-Tuncurry and Gloucester.
This Wednesday 26 August, Anne Maggs is to sponsor an Individual Stableford and next Wednesday, 2 September there will be the Monthly Medal in the form of an Individual Stableford sponsored by Myrelle Fraser.
